Foundry Adds Avid Integration to Flix Story Dev Tool

Foundry said it has integrated Flix, its tool for animation pre-production and story development, with Avid Media Composer.

As of Flix 6.1, the software now supports round-tripping between Avid editorial and story departments, allowing Flix artists to easily publish storyboards to Avid Media Composer, and for sequences to be reconformed from the Avid into Flix using an AAF.

“With Flix 6.1, we’ve brought the editorial workflows Flix users love to Avid Media Composer in an even faster, simpler and more intuitive way, thanks to a fully AAF-based roundtrip,” said Flix Product Manager Brice Banel in a prepared statement. “We’ve also added a lot of enhancements, both in the interface and under the hood, which should positively impact everyone in the creative, production and tech departments.”

Flix is already integrated with Adobe Photoshop and Premiere and Apple Final Cut Pro. Banel said support for Toon Boom Storyboard Pro will be added to Flix “in the coming months.”

Other additions to v6.1 include a new Project Migration Tool that converts existing Flix 5 projects into Flix 6, new export preferences designed to make it easier to employ standardize export paths and file names, the ability to filter Flix panels, a “save sequence” keyboard shortcut, and improved tools for generating diagnostics based on server performance.
